Important News

It is with great regret that we must announce that this year’s Greystoke Stages Rally is to be NON-SPECTATOR.

The extensive forestry work that commenced earlier in the year still continues and the forest operators have therefore required us to not permit public entry to the rally.

We had been hopeful that their work would have been completed for July, sadly this is not the case.

Many apologies for disappointment this restriction causes and we look forward to seeing you next year.

Greystoke Entries

So here is the news that many will have been waiting for ….

Entries for the Legend Fires Greystoke Stages 2018 will open at 1900 on Monday 21st May.

The format for this year will be very similar to 2017 with approximately 38 miles of high quality stages and in-forest servicing. The entry fee will be £370.

As in previous years we are expecting that there will be a high demand for the 55 places available so don’t delay in getting your completed entries ready!

For those who wish to come and help us by marshalling it will be great to see you, so if you have not already done so please contact us via greystokemarshals@gmail.com and we will then be able to keep you updated.

We look forward to seeing you on 8th July!

Greystoke Media Access 2016

With the almost unique nature of the Greystoke Stages, a forest single venue rally, and the implementation of the wide ranging MSA safety requirements for special stage rallies the organising team will accept applications from MSA Level 2 Accredited Media to attend the 2016 event. Applications will be accepted up to the 31 May 2016 with the successful applicants informed by email by the 4 June.

Applications can be submitted by email to Andy Barnard, the rally press and publicity officer, on info@gresytokestages.co.uk or by sending a personal message to Andy via Facebook. The information required with an application is name, MSA Media pass/tabard number, mobile phone number, email address, car registration number (that is the vehicle you will be attending the rally in) and your preferred location in the forest/on the stages where you would like to be positioned.

Approved access to the stages for Level 2 pass holders will take into account applicants requests but will be as directed by the organising team. Entry to the forest will be as usual via the main entrance, past the service area with signing-on en route to the stages. At signing on media will then be advised of their dedicated parking and working positions in the forest.

As always we look forward to seeing you in July and would suggest an early application for access to our event.

Dates for Your Diary

We thought it was time for some news about this year’s Greystoke Stages to enable you to put dates in your diary and starting planning for another super days rallying in the Cumbrian forest.

As most of you will know this year’s rally is on Sunday 10th July but the first key date for competitors is Monday 16th May which is the date the event regs will go live on the rally website and entries for the 2016 P & R Benn Greystoke Stages Rally will open. The closing date for entries will be the 1st July but if last year is anything to go by the entry list will be full by the 18th May! Our advice to all prospective competitors is don’t delay, when entries open get yours in quickly to avoid being disappointed.

As always we will need to a great team of marshals so if you’re not coming to compete think about giving a day up to come and marshal and register your interest, again via the website, on the Marshals page. This will ensure you get regular updates through our Marshal’s Newsletter leading up to the day.

For anyone looking for accommodation in the area for the rally Premier Inn have just opened a brand new place in the centre of Penrith which is about 6 miles from the forest. Of course other accommodation providers are available in the area!

Spectator Safety

Following tragic accidents our sport is under the safety spotlight like never before, events are being observed and organisers are being judged.

We have had to make decisions based on experience of where we can recommend the safest spectator viewing points. This year we have viewing areas on our event. They are large areas from where you can see the cars. On the west side of the forest there is plenty of free parking with an easy walk to the stage, and as the stages are used several times you will see plenty of the action. Please use these areas, if you choose to ignore this advice it could lead to the stage or indeed the rally being cancelled. You have been warned.

The future of rallying is in your hands
